Carols at the Triangle.

December 19, 2011 1 comment

What a wonderful turnout for our community Christmas event.

Around 150 residents and children enjoyed singing carols despite the approaching storm and rain.

The adults (obviously) enjoyed the mulled wine – there was none left, the children the luminous bangles, and everyone the mince pies.

The willow tree looked seasonal with the candles and the choir was in fine voice.

Thanks to those who helped set up before and those who cleared up in the wind and rain.

Spate of burglaries.

December 17, 2011 Leave a comment

There has recently been a sharp increase in burglary and theft along the A 3 corridor which appears to be ‘organised.’
Residents should be vigilent regarding locking doors and windows and not leaving keys visible – nor having ladders in the garden or sheds open where tools could be stolen or used to gain entry.
Objects including metal are also being stolen from front gardens.

A ruse to check ‘nobody at home’ is for a female to call at a house and ask if “so and so” lives here.
If this happens the police want you to call and inform them immediately.
They would rather have 100 calls that lead nowhere than missing that one call which leads to the gang being caught.

Christmas is a busy time when we may drop our guard and with evening/nights dark, curtains may be left open to show our trees, thus allowing views into our rooms.
If you are away over the holiday, leave a light on a timer and get neighbours to close your curtains at night.

Keep your eyes open for anything – anyone – strange in your road.
Lets look after one another – be safe – be aware.

Surbiton Hill Ward By-Election.

August 29, 2011 Leave a comment

A By-Election is being held on September 15th 2011 to elect a replacement for Councillor Umesh Parekh who resigned owing to business reasons with a new job recently.

Surbiton Hill Ward is the Ward into which Ellerton, Bond and Dennan Roads fall and EBRRA will be working with this new councillor along with others in our Ward.
EBRRA therfore feels it is important for residents to exercise their vote.

A list of candidates can be seen here:

You should have received your official polling card by now – please note that our polling station will be the School Lane Community Centre, School Lane, Surbiton – and NOT the usual Douglas Centre.
